Radio Receivers

We can repair or refurbish most types of domestic radio receiver from small table top or portable through to large floor standing receivers from most eras.

We are happy to repair portable, separates, tabletop, floor standing, valve(tube), transistor or IC based radio receivers. This may be anything from repairing a dodgy volume control on a 1980’s portable radio through to a full restoration of a 1920’s floor standing receiver. Please bare in
mind that repairing early receivers is becoming increasingly expensive sometimes more than the resale value.

The task of restoring older valve(tube) based radios can be considerable, sourcing parts, restoring, rebuilding and making safe. These receivers will likely need multiple parts replaced including resistors, capacitors, transformers, valves and even the internal wiring if it’s rubber coated. We will complete a full assessment of the work needed beforehand and discuss what you would like to do before we start.

If you have a large floor standing receiver we will take these on a case by case basis due to the practicalities of moving them and the limited space we have here.

We are currently unfortunately unable to offer radio receiver cabinet restorations.
