If a quote is provided this is the price you will pay. If an estimate is provided you will get a maximum and minimum price. If additional issues are found and the price is likely to go above the maximum for any reason you will be notified. Then you can decide how you would like to proceed. If you change your mind without good cause while the work is in progress, we may ask for part or full payment.

Safety and condition inspection £45
If you decide to go ahead with the work, the cost of the inspection is included in the price for the job. For example, if we found that you just needed a replacement mains cable you would only pay £45, plus any shipping. Please see safety section.

General repairs Prices start from £45
If your device is just in need of repair rather than full restoration.

Fixed mains cable replacement £45
To replace a damaged mains ex only. If you require a longer ex than 2 metres, there will be an additional charge of £1 a metre. There may be additional charges for non standard or special cables.

Cassette recorder belt replacement. Prices start at £60
This includes removal of old belts, cleaning and lubrication. Fitting new belts, test and alignment. Only belts are included, not pinch rollers or drive wheels, or any other faults.

Turntable restoration. Prices start at £45
The price will depend on the design of your turntable and what needs doing to it.

Capacitor replacement. Prices start at £80
This capacitor replacement service only covers replacement of capacitors as a preventative measure. Your device should be operational to qualify. See capacitor section. For other capacitor related repairs see general repair or restoration charges.

Full restoration. Prices start at £100
For a full electronic restoration of a non functional device. The device will be fully inspected, cleaned and any faulty or worn parts replaced, including new capacitors, resistors as appropriate. A new mains cable will be fitted and any other damaged wiring will be replaced. Switches and potentiometers will be cleaned. Any safety or operational modifications required will be completed. It will then undergo a full calibration and test to make sure it meets or exceeds the original manufactures’ specification.

This does not include cabinet/enclosure restoration.

Site visit £70
This is for an onsite repair. This only applies to Dorset. Please make sure you provide full details when you book this in.

Parts
The cost of parts will be extra, unless they are specially mentioned in the job description. We always use high quality parts but we try to keep the cost to a minimum by not putting markups on the price we pay for parts. If you wish, we can often rebuild a device using modern replicas of vintage parts, although this is likely to cost more.

Shipping
Shipping is not included in any of these prices and will depend greatly on the size and weight of the item. All items will be insured for loss and damage and tracked when they are returned. We always keep shipping costs as low as possible.
